Stormwater drainage of the yards and terraces of the new building

As Oy Itätuuli is a 12-storey tower block completed in Tapiola, Espoo, in September 2023. In connection with the construction of the latest apartment building in the Tuulenristi block, a new car park was also completed under the apartment building. Peltitarvike supplied inverted structure drains and channel drains for the removal of stormwater from the site's yard areas. The stormwater drainage of the yards and the green roofs was carried out together with screen structures suitable for the inverted structure drain. A total of 41 metres of channel drains were manufactured for stormwater drainage from the entrance to the car park and the roof terrace.

Channel drains as a solution for stormwater drainage from the terrace

Channel drains made of stainless steel were manufactured according to the site-specific plan. DryLine® Flex channel drains were delivered to both the roof terrace and the car park. The channel drain of the car park was equipped with a stainless steel mesh grating with a load capacity of C250.

The roof terrace running around the property was supplied with channel drains made of standard-sized parts with a stainless steel slotted grating with an A15 load-bearing capacity. In the finished site, the stormwater drainage system became an unobtrusive part of the roof terrace, as the channel drains were left under the terrace decking. The drains received special attention from the customer due to their effortless and quick installation.

Stormwater drainage system for yard areas

The drainage of the site's courtyard was carried out with Peltitarvike's drains suitable for inverted structures, model KK. For asphalt areas, the drains were delivered together with screen structures for rainwater downpipes and for trafficked decks. The drains in the green roof of the site were supplied with VKV screen structures suitable for the drainage of green roofs and areas.
