Kivis Shopping Center

In October 2023, a new shopping centre, Kivis, was completed in Kivistö, Vantaa. The shopping centre serves as a local service centre for the area by bringing together, among other things, grocery stores, a library, a health centre, restaurants and specialty stores under one roof. In order to ensure that it is safe for maintenance workers to move and work on the roof of the shopping centre, Peltitarvike delivered roof anchor posts to the site and installed a comprehensive lifeline system for the entire roof area. In addition, the stormwater drainage of the roof was carried out with Peltitarvike's roof drains. 

Fall protection for a multi-faceted roof

Safe movement and work on the roof of Kivis was made possible by Peltitarvike's PITO™ roof anchor posts, between which the PITO™ Greenline lifeline system was installed. A total of 672 metres of safety wire was installed, including the roof of the bus terminal. Kivis' large roof area on different levels consists of both green roof areas and bitumen roof. PITO™ roof anchor posts made it possible to provide fall protection for both roof types. In addition, the large roof area benefits from the fact that four simultaneous users can attach to the PITO™ Greenline lifeline system. Thus, the maintenance of the Kivis' roof can be safely and effortlessly carried out by several people.

The fall protection for the Kivis roof was designed in cooperation with the customer with the help of Peltitarvike's experts. Peltitarvike was involved in the design of the fall protection system from the beginning. With the rational placement of the roof anchor posts, the system was designed to be as functional and cost-effective as possible. The lifeline system was installed on the roof anchor posts by Peltitarvike.

Suitable roof anchor posts for different roof structures

Both robust PITO^™ roof anchor posts and lighter PITO™ Variant Uni roof anchor points were selected for the site. PITO^TM roof anchor posts were cast into the hollow-core slab and PITO™ Variant Uni anchor points were installed on a wooden base. Like PITO™ roof anchor posts, the lighter PITO™ Variant Uni roof anchor points are also suitable for personal fall protection as a single anchor point or as part of a lifeline system for four simultaneous users. In addition, PITO^™ roof equipment stands were delivered to the roof of Kivis, for example, as bases for condensers.

Roof drains for flat and inverted roofs

In addition to fall protection, the stormwater drainage of the Kivis roof was carried out with Peltitarvike's acid-resistant steel roof drains. The traditional model A roof drain was chosen for the roof drains of the flat bitumen roof. A large part of the roof area of Kivis is covered by a green roof. The green roof was supplied with a roof drain model KK suitable for inverted roofs. The drains of the inverted roof were equipped with screen structures and extra screens suitable for the green roof. The additional screen helps to minimize the amount of debris entering the drain.
