A new Lumo homes site, consisting of a four apartment buildings, was completed in Vantaa, Pyhtäänkorventie, in the spring of 2018. An 80-space car park was also built for the housing association on two floors. The open upper level rainwater drainage system was implemented according to the architect's plan as a surface structure that slopes in one direction. The architect's plan also included drainage pipes and heating cable risers at the support pillars. Peltitarvike delivered the channel drains in seven parts, which were connected on site to form a single unit. The channels were delivered to the site as parts according to the plan, which sped up the installation. In total, there are 50 meters of channel drains on the site. The planned drainage solution was functional for the use of the car park.
The low structures of car parks require low drains
As car parks are often constructed with concrete slabs that are as low as possible, the channel drain supplier must also be able to supply low channels. At this site, the channel drains were implemented with an internal slope, where the lowest channel is 80 mm and the highest 110 mm.
In addition to rain, the site is also prepared for frost. Heating cables run through all the channel drains.
On car parks and in yards, channel drains and gratings are required to withstand the weight of vehicles. The channel drain made of stainless steel is load-resistant, i.e. it can be driven over even with a small trailer. Load capacity up to 25 tons.
The installation of the channel drains was also facilitated at this site by the channels mounting feet, which brought the channel drains to the right level despite the height variations of the base.
