Frequently asked questions about roof anchor posts
Can all PITO™ roof anchor posts and anchor points be used to support suspended scaffolding?
Not all. The PITO™ roof anchor post, cast-in anchor post and wooden roof anchor post meet the requirements of the suspended access equipment standard SFS-EN 1808, i.e. they can be used to support suspended scaffolding. Other PITOTM roof anchor points are suitable for use in personal fall protection.
Are PITO™ roof anchor posts also suitable for steep roofs?
Yes, PITO™ roof anchor posts can also be installed on steep roofs, for example, as an anchor point in the vicinity of a house ladder. In addition to the roof anchor posts installed in the roof structure, our range includes, for example, anchor points suitable for double standing seam roof. All our roof anchor post and point models can be installed with the PITO™ Greenline lifeline system.
Can PITO™ roof anchor posts be installed on structures other than roofs?
Yes, PITO™ roof anchor posts and anchor points can be installed on other load-bearing structures such as walls or facades. For example, fall protection for industrial plants can also be implemented with PITO™ roof safety products.
Do you have a roof anchor post that can be attached to the surface layer of the roof?
PITO™ roof safety products are always attached to a load-bearing structure. We want to be sure that the fastening and strength of our products will meet our safety requirements even after years and decades.
In addition to the roof anchor posts installed in the load-bearing structure of the roof, our range also includes roof anchor points with a lighter fastening solution, which are suitable for installation in, for example, plywood or boarding, the counterweight anchor point is suitable for installation on a finished roof.
How many roof anchor posts do I need for the roof?
According to the regulation, all properties requiring maintenance, inspections or upkeep must have safe and easy uninterrupted access. A viable solution for the implementation of fall protection is to place the roof anchor posts to rotate the roof according to the eaves, or on a narrow rectangular roof, the anchor posts can be placed in a row in the middle of the roof.
As part of the lifeline system, the distance between the PITO™ roof anchor posts must not exceed 15 m, recommended 10-12 m, as individual anchor points 7.5 m. This allows you to calculate the number of roof anchor posts required. Remember to place roof anchor posts on all roof levels.
How far from the roof eaves should the roof anchor post be placed?
(On flat roofs) the recommended distance of the PITO™ roof anchor post to the free edge is at least 2.5 m, so that the area of risk of falling remains as small as possible. Check the product-specific recommendations from our technical support before installing the products.
Can I get the roof anchor posts in the colour I want?
Yes, it is possible to paint PITO™ roof anchor posts. The roof anchor posts can be supplied painted in RAL or RR colours.
